A mommy makeover is the ultimate way to reverse the physical changes that come with pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing. This is achieved through a series of cosmetic procedures such as breast augmentation, breast lift, liposuction, and tummy tuck. Getting a mommy makeover in The Woodlands saves patients time and money.
What Is a Mommy Makeover?
At Rivela Plastic Surgery, we understand that motherhood can be one of life’s greatest gifts. While this time of life is filled with blessings, for many mothers, it can involve a number of important sacrifices. At Rivela Plastic Surgery we feel the way you look does not have to be one of them. For moms who are having trouble reversing the physical changes that pregnancy and nursing can bring a Mommy Makeover can help. With an array of effective cosmetic enhancement treatments, a Mommy Makeover can address a number of body areas, including the breasts, abdomen, and face to renew your appearance with results that look both natural and beautiful.
Dr. Lucian Rivela is a father of three and several members of his nursing and support staff are experienced mothers who know and understand very well the physical toll that pregnancy, nursing, and child-rearing can take. From this viewpoint our team at Rivela Plastic Surgery can customize a Mommy Makeover treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and goals, helping you restore your pre-pregnancy figure and enhance your self-esteem with personalized attention, compassionate care, and a natural-looking result.

LEARN MOREThe Mommy Makeover Procedure
The rigors of pregnancy and raising children can take their toll in a number of areas. Typically, the most prominent area of change is the abdomen. During pregnancy, the abdominal muscles can become stretched and pulled apart, and the area can accumulate fat that’s hard to get rid of, especially in women who have had multiple pregnancies in a short amount of time.
The breasts can also lose elasticity, taking on an appearance of sagginess and even losing volume. Pockets of fat can also form in a variety of body areas, proving difficult to eliminate even with strict diet and exercise. Plus, the stress and exhaustion of raising children can manifest in early lines and wrinkles forming along the face, giving you an appearance of being older than you actually are. With procedures such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction, breast lift, breast augmentation, cosmetic injectables, and skin rejuvenation treatments many of those after-pregnancy effects can be reversed or restored.
Once general anesthesia has been administered, Dr. Rivela will make incisions and then perform the chosen procedures. Sutures may be used to close the incisions, and proper dressings will be applied.
Mommy Makeover Healing and Recovery
One of the advantages of a mommy makeover is that you will only have to go through a single recovery period. While healing is different for every patient, as well as the package of procedures you choose, you won’t have to experience multiple periods of downtime.
Here are some important reminders to take note of:
- You’ll most likely need to wear post-surgical elastic support garments.
- Bruising and swelling may be visible after surgery but will go away after some time.
- A follow-up appointment is needed to remove stitches.
- Strenuous activities must be avoided for at least two months.
When can I Get My Body Back?
New mothers should wait at least six months after the birth of their last child before considering major cosmetic surgery procedures. The reason for this is that time may correct some areas you are concerned with naturally and/or through diet and exercise. Also, women who are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed are typically not candidates for breast enhancement procedures and therefore will need to wait at least six months before undergoing breast surgery. However, once you have waited six months after pregnancy and breastfeeding, you may realize that the appearance of certain body areas is not improving, then it may be the right time to consider cosmetic enhancement treatments.
When should I Stop Nursing?
While Rivela Plastic Surgery is very supportive of nursing moms we feel how long you continue breastfeeding is your decision. Most women set goals for breastfeeding between three months and a year, though we have had patients who breastfeed for two years or even longer. It will depend on how you feel emotionally, as well as your personal circumstances.
Returning to work doesn’t mean that breastfeeding has to end. At one time, we had two staff members at Rivela Plastic Surgery who were both breastfeeding and working moms.
The important thing is it is up to you.
What if I Get Pregnant Again?
Future pregnancies will affect your surgical result. For this reason, it is recommended that mothers should wait at least six months after the birth and nursing of their last child before undergoing a cosmetic surgical procedure. Although we have had patients who gave birth and have nursed their children after having cosmetic surgery. Happy Parenting!
How Much Does a Mommy Makeover Cost?
A mommy makeover is highly personalized to every patient. This means that the actual cost will depend on your unique situation. The price for this type of procedure may also be affected by factors such as the surgeries you select, the techniques employed, and additional costs like prescription medications and general anesthesia.
